• 2. To further that goal, you want to be respectful and non-threatening — you should keep your hands within the clear view of the officer and avoid abusive or belittling language.
• 3. You should be prepared to readily provide any documentation requested — such as your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance.
• 4. You should also be mindful of your body language — avoid hasty or quick body movements.

Keep in mind, the roadside is the officer's domain. The officer seeks to engage in a respectful and brief inquiry.

Complaints of abuse or improper conduct by the officer can be made to appropriate agencies and addressed in a court of law.
